Vision For Our Community Kitchen
huiMAU created the Community Kitchen Food Distribution (CKFD) Program out of a sense of kuleana (responsibility/accountability) to share the abundance and hānai kanaka in our community. Throughout the 3 years of the program's existence, CKFD has been a place to gather with each other and share food and stories intergenerationally. From weekly to now monthly distributions, we have aligned our program to the needs of our people we serve.

Join our CKFD Program!
Stop by the huiMAU hub every third Friday of the month (unless stated otherwise). Our Pūʻolo Meaʻai (Food Bundles) include 1 pound of fresh Waipiʻo poi, a variety of locally grown veggies, and every so often a ready-to-eat meal/protein. These pūʻolo meaʻai are expected to aid in feeding a family of four. To join our food program, all you need to do is answer a few registration questions as a walk-in. |
Mahalo to Our Funders and Generous Community!Mahalo to the generous funders and community members that have donated financial assistance and fresh foods to our ever-growing CKFD Program. It is through you that we can hānai kanaka – feed the ʻohana and kūpuna of Hāmākua. If you're interested in getting involved, we'd love to hear from you. For receiving, donation, or other CKFD inquiries, please contact us via the email link. For general information, please use our contact page.
February-July 2025, the CKFD Program is sponsored by the HIDOE Food Box Grant. |
